From there we hit the gas station to fill up the tank and hit the road...or so we thought. We decided to check the oil level and good thing we did because we were running on fumes! Had I been by myself I may have panicked, but with Murph there, we trouble-shooted and were on the road in no time. Good thing Papa Murph works with cars for a living, and my dad taught me just enough to get by...dads are the best!
For the next few hours we enjoyed the beautiful New Mexico landscape, jammed out to music, and chatted about life. I was even able to sneak in a quick nap. When we hit Arizona, we ran into our next speed bump. Before the trip even started, Meagan and I made a deal that we would stop at every rest stop/welcome center as we entered a new state to get a pic. Well Arizona threw some road construction and a detour at us and we had to decide if going off the beaten path for a minute was worth it. After bickering for half a second we said YOLO. We got our pic, got a pee break, and were off once again.

After another stop to fill the car up and many more miles of beautiful landscape, we arrived at the Grand Canyon. Murph and I looked at each other, and without hesitation said:schmooblydong! There is no other way to describe it. Thus, we did what anyone would do and started snapping pictures left and right. After stopping at some lookout points we eventually made our way to the visitors center. It was there that we made the brave decision to wake up at 4 a.m. on Friday morning (our hotel room is an hour from the Grand Canyon), to watch the sun rise at 5:51 a.m. and then explore the canyon by foot.
We felt confident in our decision so we headed out of the park and zoomed back to our hotel. Before we checked in we thought it would be best to fill up the car so we would have a full tank of gas for the next day. I put the pump in the car and started to take in my surroundings like I always do. All of a sudden I thought I heard a small water fall. I turned back to the car and gas war pouring out of my car!! Picture the scene in dumb and dumber when Harry is filling up the van that looks like a dog. Well, just call me Harry! As I went to alleviate the situation gas got all over my arm. Despite the bewilderment that took me over, Murph and I put our heads together and solved the problem. My sweatshirt is currently soaking in our hotel room sink!
